2 hours or 24/7, Lighthouse Companion Care can meet your needs. We employ both Homemaker/Companions and Personal Care Assistants depending on the type of care you need. To better understand this, see below:

Personal Care Attendants

PCAs can do everything a Homemaker/Companion can do (listed below), AND also assist in hands-on care such as:

  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming
  • Assist with toileting or elimination
  • Assist with walking or exercises with proper instruction

Some things a Personal Care Attendant MAY NOT do:

  • Pre-pour medications
  • Assist with money management
  • Perform heavy tasks, indoor or outdoor such as moving furniture, washing windows, washing drapes or blinds, mowing the lawn, etc

Homemaker/Companion

Some things a Homemaker/Companion MAY do or assist with:

  • Change Client’s linens
  • Wash Client’s dishes
  • Perform light housecleaning
  • Do Client’s laundry
  • Plan and prepare meals
  • Communicate health problems or other changes to the supervisor
  • Shop or run errands
  • Iron or mend Client’s clothing
  • Assist with telephone calls and written communication
  • Escort Client to recreational activity, or medical, dental or business appointment
  • Supervise self-performance of activities of daily living such as walking, dressing, grooming, etc
  • Remind Client to take self-administered medications
  • Monitor to ensure client’s safety
  • Read to a client
  • Prepare snacks

Some things a Homemaker MAY NOT do or assist with:

  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming

  • Assist with money management
